Job Summary:
The Pathfinder Middle School Swim & Dive Coach is responsible for organizing, leading, and developing the school's swim and dive program. The coach will instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training needed to compete successfully while promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, academic success, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and lead all practices, swim meets, and diving competitions.

Instruct athletes in the rules, techniques, and strategies of swimming and diving.

Promote safety and ensure compliance with all school, district, and league rules.

Monitor and support the academic progress and personal growth of student-athletes.

Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, school staff, and the athletic director.

Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, coordinating transportation, and preparing for meets.

Supervise athletes at all team functions, ensuring safety and appropriate conduct.

Maintain inventory of team equipment and request supplies as needed.

Uphold the values of inclusivity, integrity, and sportsmanship within the team culture.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Prior coaching experience in swimming/diving, especially with youth or school-aged athletes.

Current CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain).

Knowledge of swim and dive rules, techniques, and training strategies.

Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes of varying skill levels.
Working Conditions:

Practices held after school hours and occasionally on weekends.

Travel required for away meets.

Physical ability to demonstrate techniques and supervise aquatic activities in a pool environment.
