Maintenance Position

Qualifications
Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in building maintenance (preventive and corrective) operations or in a skilled trades.
- General working knowledge of building maintenance procedures and practices including electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, boilers, snow plowing, carpentry and roofing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and operating instructions.
- Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding, lift heavy (up to 100 lbs.) items and work in inclement weather.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, vendors, contractors, and community in a positive manner.
- Demonstrated record of good attendance.
- Must possess and maintain a current Michigan driver's license.
Preferred
- Certification as a journeyman in one or more of the following areas: Electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, boilers, etc.
- Ability to operate a snowplow, tractor, forklift and other vehicles.
- Prior custodial experience.
- Pool Operator certification.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cut and replace glass.
- Repair and replace bearing assemblies on pumps and other equipment.
- Repair and replace pneumatic and DDC temperature controls on heating and ventilating equipment.
- Change filters, lubes bearings and motors, adjusts pulleys and performs repairs on mechanical equipment according to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Assist in snow removal before and after hours and on weekends when necessary
- Responsible for miscellaneous carpentry and plumbing and other minor maintenance tasks.
- Available to respond to emergencies and perform overtime when needs dictate.
- Complete work responsibilities.
- Responsible for maintaining preventive maintenance logs and completing work orders via the district's automated work order system.
- Replace electrical motors on equipment.
- Repair and make minor plumbing changes including operation of electric sewer auger (example: reset toilets, replace faucets, etc.).
- Painting of all types, minor jobs as time permits.
- Repair and make minor electrical changes (example: replace and repair light fixtures, etc.).
- Repair roofs, except major roof repair.
- Be able to perform any type of general building repairs.
- Work with and assist Maintenance I as needs dictate.
- Make inspections and repairs to playground equipment.
- Should be able to perform any Custodian or Head Custodian assignment as district needs dictate.
- Communicates with building Head Custodian and/or building principals regarding repair projects, as appropriate.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of necessary parts and supplies and exercises proper care of district tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Follows and maintains an awareness of current OSHA and EPA safety standards.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continual growth and improvement by attending appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Schedule
Full-time, year-round position
Must be available for occasional evening/weekend work during special events
May require flexible hours during snow removal season
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and materials
Operation of various powered equipment and hand tools
