Job Posting:  Dean of Students

 

Reports to:  Building Principal

 

Conditions:  Salary TDB based on experience

                         205 Day Contractual Work Year

                         Subject to the terms and conditions of the Pinckney School Administrators Master Agreement

       

Qualifications:

                   

Minimum                      

  • Possession of a Master’s Degree or higher.
  • Valid State of Michigan Administrative certification or willingness to enroll in a program to obtain one.
  • Relevant experience working to develop systems, processes, and intervention strategies to promote student learning and a positive school climate.
  • Ability to interact positively with middle school age students while addressing their academic, social and emotional needs. 
  • Previous experience working with students in the areas of discipline, behavior support, and peer interactions.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively with teachers across grade levels to promote student success.
  • Ability to develop and maintain appropriate relationships and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated confidential and sound professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in usage and application of technology, preferably Google Apps for Education.

Preferred

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certification.  Previous teaching and/or educational leadership experience at the middle school level.
  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems, such as MiStar
  • Knowledge of and adherence to federal, state, and local laws regarding student privacy.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision and the ability to adjust

focus. The ability to travel to other buildings is required. The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours and meet multiple demands from several people.

The noise level in the work environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day. Occasionally the employee may be required to be outdoors for a short period of

time, and therefore subject to varying weather conditions, for purposes of accomplishing the essential functions of this job.
