Job Summary:

The Pathfinder Middle School Swim & Dive Coach is responsible for organizing, leading, and developing the school's swim and dive program. The coach will instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training needed to compete successfully while promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, academic success, and personal development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead all practices, swim meets, and diving competitions.

  • Instruct athletes in the rules, techniques, and strategies of swimming and diving.

  • Promote safety and ensure compliance with all school, district, and league rules.

  • Monitor and support the academic progress and personal growth of student-athletes.

  • Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, school staff, and the athletic director.

  • Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, coordinating transportation, and preparing for meets.

  • Supervise athletes at all team functions, ensuring safety and appropriate conduct.

  • Maintain inventory of team equipment and request supplies as needed.

  • Uphold the values of inclusivity, integrity, and sportsmanship within the team culture.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Prior coaching experience in swimming/diving, especially with youth or school-aged athletes.

  • Current CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Knowledge of swim and dive rules, techniques, and training strategies.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes of varying skill levels.


Working Conditions:

  • Practices held after school hours and occasionally on weekends.

  • Travel required for away meets.

  • Physical ability to demonstrate techniques and supervise aquatic activities in a pool environment.
