POSITION:                         K-12 MTSS Instructional Coach

The educator in this position will plan and provide professional learning and coaching to classroom teachers around research-informed instructional practices related to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positivity Project in grades K to 12. The purpose behind the position is to develop MTSS systems, especially in Tier 1 in grades K-12 in Pinckney Community Schools.  This position also requires collaboration with the Livingston Educational Services Agency Curriculum, PCS Curriculum Office, Principals, and other local coaches to plan and provide professional learning throughout the district. This is a 1-year position paid for by the 31aa grant with the option of extending the position based on federal and state funding. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and/or educational experience, preferably in a K-12 setting
  2. Sufficient knowledge of evidenced-based MTSS research
  3. Special expertise in MTSS and PBIS
  4. A minimum of a bachelor's degree and preferred advanced coursework in behavior science
  5. Previous leadership experience
  6. Data management skills
  7. A strong knowledge base in working with adults

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:

  1. Working knowledge of multi-tiered systems of supports
  2. Background in creating and evaluating successful grant programs
  3. Previous experience planning and leading professional learning for educators
  4. Skills related to developing adult learning materials, curriculum documentation, and planning staff development
  5. One-to-one educator leadership experience
  6. Successful implementation of various MTSS programs, strategies, and models
  7. Ability to break down and analyze data in relation to the MTSS process and instructional decision-making
  8. Able to work independently, problem-solve, and find solutions to challenging situations
  9. Knowledge of MAP Growth and AimsWeb+ assessments and data

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. The coach must provide professional development in the following areas:
a. MTSS
b. PBIS
c. SEL Curriculum selected by the district
2. The coach must provide professional development that enables administering and analyzing behavior
data
3. The coach must provide professional development that provides differentiated instruction and
intensive intervention.
4. Oversee the English Learner program in the district including administering WIDA
5. Oversee the Intervention Programs in K-12
Coaching Tasks include:
1. Model effective instructional strategies for teachers.
2. Facilitate study groups.
3. Train teachers in data analysis and using data to differentiate instruction.
4. Coach and mentor colleagues.
5. Work with teachers to ensure that evidence-based SEL programs are implemented with fidelity
6. Work with teachers in applying evidenced-based behavior strategies in other content areas including
but not limited to, prioritizing time spent with those teachers, activities, and roles that will have the
greatest impact and prioritize coaching and mentoring in classrooms.
7. Help increase instructional density.
8. In collaboration with the building principal, help to lead and support MTSS teams at the school that
support a continuous improvement process.
9. Continue to increase his or her knowledge base in best practices in MTSS and intervention.
10. Model and coach whole- and small-group instruction with students, for each teacher in grades K to 12.
